FTP
Setup and Configuration
FTP (file transfer
protocol) is what you will need to use to upload your
webpages to our servers at pkFamily.
Basically, you can use FTP programs to download from
various sites. If there are any other questions about FTP
you feel we should address please feel free to send us
an email.
You can download WS_FTP from http://www.ipswitch.com/pd_wsftp.html
or if you are a students, faculty
or staff members of an educational institution, US
Government employees, or for home (non-business)
purposes you can download this version WS_FTP.
How to upload
your Web site using WS_FTP
- Log on to the Internet
- Open the FTP program
- Type members.pkFamily.com
as the host name
- Type your username and
password
- Check - Save Password
- Click OK
- Make sure the first
page of your Web site is named "index.html".
If using Windows 3.x, name your file "index.htm"
then, after you have copied the file to the server,
rename it to "index.html" using the
"Rename" function in WS_FTP.
- Select ChgDir on the
left side of the screen.
- Type the path to the
directory where the files you want to send are
located.
- Select all the files
on the left that will be included in your Web site
(don't forget your graphics!)
- Click the right arrow
in the middle of the screen to put each file in the
"www" directory.
- You will now be able
to view your Web site at: http://members.pkFamily.com/username
